This course has been designed to take as either a 1 or 2 year course, although as all qualifications with Aced, this is flexible. As there are no fixed deadlines or end of course exam, learners can work at a pace that is suitable for them. You have the option to choose your preferred payment option, then complete at a pace suitable for you.
Course Overview
- Entry Requirement: No formal quals required. No minimum age requirements. Guide of 13/14yrs to start.
- Durations: Designed as a 1 yr course based on 8 hrs per week, or 2 yr based on 4 hrs per week, however completion time is flexible.
- Requirements: Computer with internet connection & phone camera or better.
- Enrolment: Enrol anytime! There are no enrolment windows to wait for, so learners can start straight away!
- Awarding body: Accredited with NCFE.
- OFQUAL regulated: 601/3037/4
- Level: Level 2 qualification.
- Total Qualification Time (TQT) : 240 hours
- Learner evidence: 100% Portfolio assessed (internally assessed, externally moderated and no exam!).
- Total cost: £680 ‘one off’ payment.
- Or subscription method of 12 monthly instalments of £60/ 24 monthly instalments of £30.
- Course structure: There are four units, covering a practical organising activity as well as theory based units, such as anatomy and physiology for exercise, healthy exercise & nutrition and preparing to work in the sport and leisure industry.
- Worth: 24 Credit value / 2 GCSEs, comparable to grade 4-9/A-C *
- * However we always suggest checking with your local college if requiring in place of a GCSE.
- The pay-in-full discounted rate of £680 is available exclusively to home-educating families who are privately funding their course. Local Authority bookings, or enrolments funded through external agencies, will be charged at the standard course price of £768. This ensures the discount is passed directly to the families it was designed to support.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the sports sector to either start a career in sport, leisure or fitness, or to progress within employment in the sector. It may also be applicable for those in an entry level role who would like to further their understanding and progress to the next level of employment or learning.
It would be useful for the learner to belong to a club or team for unit 1, although this isn’t strictly necessary, it would ensure the first unit of the course be a little more straight forward.
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
- progress into higher or further education
- progress to NCFE level 3 sport qualifications
- gain and develop essential skills valued by employers and higher and further education institutions
- develop knowledge and understanding of the sport, leisure and fitness vocational sector
To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete 4 units.
This course is specifically for the Sport, Exercise and Fitness pathway:
- Participating in sport
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise
- Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition
- Preparing to work in the sport and leisure industry
This pathway will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their practical skills in sport, through organising and participating in sports activities. They will be able to work with others to plan and participate in a sports activity, and they will evaluate their own performance and the performance of others following the activity. Learners will gain the required knowledge and understanding of sport rules and regulations.
Who is this qualification designed for?
It is an engaging qualification, which is useful for those previously disaffected with learning and can provide a supportive progression route into further learning or employment. This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop skills and knowledge about sport and is ideal for learners who are looking to progress onto further learning in this sector.
